CLASS Case Management: Support For People With Disabilities CLASS is an acronym for Community Living Assistance and Support Services. The CLASS program provides home and community-based services to eligible individuals as an effective alternative to institutional placement. Title XIX (Medicaid) funds the CLASS program through a waiver that allows the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to provide services that are not allowable under the regular Medicaid program. A potential participant must meet a number of very specific eligiblity requirements, including financial, medical, functional independence and related criteria. He or she must also have an approved diagnosis under the program guidelines, and this condition must have an onset before age 22. Participants must be receiving or be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or related Medicaid coverage. There are two types of providers in the CLASS program: case management agencies and direct service agencies. Easter Seals provides case management services. Some of our responsibilities are:
Referrals can be received from any source including self-referral. All initial referrals must be passed on to DADS in Austin for submission to the interest list. Call 1-877-438-5658.
