Personal Support Services

The Personal Support Services Department of Easter Seals North Texas offers a variety of critical in-home services for individuals with disabilities or those who are caring for family members who have disabilities.  These services consist of Habilitation, Respite Care, Personal Assistance and Homemaker services. 

Easter Seals’ Habilitation Services match individuals who have disabilities with fully screened and trained providers who will work with the individual to improve their skills in areas such as money management, socialization, problem solving, deductive reasoning, personal hygiene and other aspects of individualized decision-making.  These learned skills allow the client to better direct their caregivers, resulting in an improved quality of life and a greater sense of independence. 

Respite Care Services provide periodic breaks for individuals who are caring for a loved one with a disability at home.  Families utilizing Easter Seals’ Respite Care Services have loved ones who are living with a wide array of disabilities, including cerebral palsy, mental retardation, Alzheimer’s, stroke and other disabling conditions.  Trained and screened respite providers come to the home and care for the person with a disability, which allows the primary caregiver the opportunity to run errands, spend time with other family members and take care of other personal or pragmatic matters.

Personal Assistance Services are offered to individuals with disabilities or disabling conditions who need a little help with personal tasks, such as bathing, light housekeeping, meal preparation, running errands, etc.  Personal Assistance Services reduce isolation and allow individuals with disabilities to remain living independently for as long as possible. 

Homemaker Services are offered to help individuals with disabilities or disabling conditions with housekeeping duties that can become tiresome or hazardous.  Tasks such as vacuuming, laundry, changing bed linens, sanitizing bathrooms and other duties are provided as needed.
