Audiology:  Improving Independence and Safety

Isolation from family and community is often the result of hearing loss.  Easter Seals North Texas goal is to minimizes isolation and maximizes independence and safety through its audiology services.

Audiology services involves hearing and middle function testing in addition to counseling and information about hearing health with referral to community programs as required.  Teaching and providing help with hearing conservation and protection is a priority.  Classes on communication strategies and use of amplification are available.  Processing for eligibility for the HEAR NOW program and fitting for amplification through HEAR NOW is provided at some Easter Seals North Texas locations.  Hearing assessment in conjunction with evaluations for speech and language development for children is available at some centers.  Follow up testing for state mandated new born hearing screenings is another service available. 

The quality of life for many hearing impaired individuals is improved because of the Easter Seals North Texas audiology program.
