Volunteer Opportunities

Read about Morrison Garrett, a volunteer who continually gave his time even past his 100th birthday.  Sadly, Easter Seals North Texas lost a dear friend when Morrison passed away on July 10, 2009.

Join us and you, too, can make a difference and help people with disabilities achieve their goals. Volunteer your time to share your talents.  Being an Easter Seals volunteer is not only fun, but it also brings satisfaction in knowing you are making a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.  Below you will find brief descriptions of some of our current volunteer needs: CLINICAL AID: This position assists the therapists by:

  • Keeping therapy rooms tidy and ready for patients
  • Cleaning and straightening toys used in therapy
  • Preparation of print and other materials used for therapy
  • A potential for therapy observationNeeded:   

EASTER SEALS PROFESSIONAL NETWORK: Join the Easter Seals Professional Network as they impact the North Texas community.  This group, which is primarily comprised of young professionals, puts on various events and campaigns through the year to raise awareness and support Easter Seals.  To find out more about what this network is doing or how you can become a member contact Meredith Cappel at 817-759-7914 or mcappel@ntx.easterseals.com.

 INTERNSHIPS:  Easter Seals accepts a limited number of interns each semester.  Internships are available for physical therapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, development & marketing.

JOB SEARCH SKILLS CONSULTANT: Many of our participants have never had a job, interviewed for a job or had "real-world" work experience.  Spend a day providing mock interviews for participants who are ready to begin their job search, assist them with work experience projects, or mentor them on career interests.

OFFICE ASSISTANT:  This position assists the office coordinator with scheduling patient appointments and therapy.  Additional duties include:

  • filing patient charts and records
  • photocopying forms for Finance department
  • light phone duties

Bilingual a plus!

SPECIAL EVENTS: Easter Seals hosts various service opportunities throughout the year to benefit our service programs.  Walk With Me, Hats Off To Mothers, the annual Golf Tournament and other events provide one-day service opportunities for team building or community involvement.  There are also opportunities to serve on planning committees for our events.

STORY TELLER/ LOBBY HOST:  This position requires someone who can captivate the attention of young children through play and by reading stories.

WALK WITH ME:  Participate in Easter Seals Walk With Me, community event by one of the following:

  • Serve on the event planning committee.
  • Volunteer to help on the day of Walk With Me.
  • Register to walk in this event with your friends, family or co-workers.
